The conditioners used in the aquarium hobby are substances or preparations that modify the environmental conditions of the water so the fish can better, and quicker, adapt to the living conditions in the aquarium.
Within these we can classify them into two basic types:
Water Quality Modifying Conditioners
- They are substances or preparations that modify one or more physicochemical parameters of water quality, such as Salt (San-Halite), modifiers of the pH value such as Redux-pH, etc.
Fish Organic Integrity Protective Conditioners
- These are formulations that neutralize elements or substances that are harmful to fish, as is the case with antichlorines (Clorkill).
- They restore the mucous layer that covers the fish's skin, thus preventing diseases from opportunistic germs, mainly fungi and bacterial infections.
- They neutralize Ammonium/ammonia which is extremely toxic to aquatic organisms.
At Biomaa we have developed an extensive line of conditioners thinking about the needs of the different species of fish, as well as the different water qualities and transportation needs of these organisms.
